Building Community Through Art is based on the premise that "there is no wrong answer in art."  Our founder believes that with continued exposure to an unconditionally exceptive and creative artistic environment, such as the Scarlet Macaw Community Art Center, every student can be given the opportunity to stand on a platform that is equal to his or her peers. The policy of mandating that Artists who exhibit in the Center's Gallery share their artistic knowledge through the venue of teaching classes or workshops, has created a working dialogue between members of the community and exceptionally creative individuals. Because of this unique interaction, the Community Art Center has been further aided in it's quest to encourage the creative experience for each individual beyond the art curriculum that has been provided for them through our public school system.

The Scarlet Macaw Community Art Center provides a platform for art student of all ages to locally display their own art alongside that of seasoned professionals in an established Gallery setting.  Through the Centers interface with area schools, students are afforded the opportunity to experience an elevation of self-esteem, which is needed to extend the use of their creative potential into and throughout adulthood.  Those who have already participated in this program have been observed to display a willingness to engage in creating art in lieu of seeking other less creative entertainment activities and it has also been noted that the students level of participation within the art classroom has increased and been more focused.

Junior Mustang Expressions and Senior Mustang Artistic Moments have been presented to the community through the Building Community Through Art Program.  These exhibitions are provided by the Community Art Center at no cost to the participating school system or it's students.  Unlike any other art program offered, there is no age limitation and every student is give the opportunity to be represented by and sell his or her own work of art.  The allocation of funds earned from the sales of the artwork enables the student to directly receive 50% of the amount of the sale of their work.  The schools Art Department is given 30% of the total  sales of the artwork that is created within the established art curricula, to provide a means of supplementary funds to be used to assist in offsetting the art program's restricted budgetary allocations.  The remaining 20% is used to defray the Centers cost of the exhibition and opening reception.

Summer Art Camp for Children is provides area children 3 - 12 with the opportunity to explore the art and regions of the world and various cultures.

The High School Scholarship Program allows students who would not otherwise have the chance to attend classes the opportunity to compete for entry in Center's  programs and classes.

Student Work Program allows students who would not otherwise have the chance to attend classes the opportunity to exchange Center volunteer hours as payment for classes and workshops.
